Annual Birthday Wishlist

Well, well, well... will you look at that, it' October! Last quarter of the year, time flies so fast! October means its time for the Annual Birthday Wishlist! Yay!!!

May I now present to you my wishlist...

1. Laptop  - my trusty old laptop is giving up on me. :( Well, its been 3 or more years old now. Look at the crack by the cover. I sure do need a new one.

2. Winter Gear - October also means Fall season but if you live where I live, Fall season doesn't exist. lol Or Fall is just like for 1 week and winter feels like forever in here. So to be ready to face the hrash cold I need a reliable winter jacket and boots that can withstand a windchill of -45. brrr!!!

Arctic Winter parkas from North Face

Anti-slip Winter Boots from Columbia Sportwear

3.Backpack - I love backpacks it makes my life easy.
Herschel Back Pack

4. Phone Case and Earphones  - Believe it or not, my iPhone 5 right now is bare, meaning I don't have any phone case/cover on it nor a screen protector on it! Crazy right?! I dropped it a few times now, what can I say, its durable and tough. I do have a lifeproof phone case for my phone however the cord that connects the phone and earphone is no longer working so I really can't use it especially if someone is calling me, I can't hear the other person. I think I can only drop it a few more times and it would finally won't work. So before that happens, I should get one asap.

I want a blue one!

5. Old fashion handwritten letters and cards - I love chatting, texting and all that sort of technology but deep inside I also love receiving handwritten letter and cards, its more personal and thoughtful. I miss getting one from my Nanay. :(

Thanks in advance to all my secret Santas' for the early Christmas gift AKA Birthday gift! hehe! :)

Birthdays and Morbid Thoughts

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who greeted me on my birthday! To those who forgot about it, it's okay you can still make it up to me by granting my birthday wishlist 2012. nyahaha!

Anyhoo, honestly that day was a drag. I know, I should be happy on that special day but I have a 'tampo' on 1 person. They say, it takes only ONE person to remember and greet you and that would definitely complete your day. But sadly, that ONE person forgot or maybe didn't realize that it was my birthday that very same day that we were talking. Oh well..

On a happy note, I got 1 item crossed out in my birthday wishlist! yay! It's kinda bulky but I love it to bits! To my mom and sister, Thank you! Thank you!

Another thing to celebrate is the birthday of this blog. Gailieslifejourney is now 5 years old! Wow! It all began on a boring night of october 2007 when I chanced upon a blog... I've read it till the wee hours of the morning. It inspired me to start a blog of my own... to write what and how I feel, to share to everyone what I've been through and hope that others can learn from it, get insight and be inpired too. Wishing more years in blogosphere. To my friends and people who visits and reads this blog, a big thank you to all of you from the bottom of my heart.

November, this is it! The big move! 1 more day and I will be leaving... till now, my things are in disarray. Haven't really done some packing yet. As I said to some of my friends, I still can't picture myself living in Canada. Morbid thoughts are cropping up on my mind... thoughts of crash or other untoward incident pops inside my head that I don't see myself somewhere near Canada. Is this how I should really feel?! *sigh* You see I still have time to blog rather than pack my things... everyone's excited for me and I don't feel the same. I don't know... I just don't feel excited about uncertainty, about winter or maybe I'm not just prepared to leave the life I've known...

Birthday Wishlist 2012

Hello October, we meet again. As per tradition of this blog, I now present to all of you (godmothers/godfathers and friends) my annual birthday wish list.

1. pocket sized devotional bible - my bible is so old. the spine is ripped, the pages are crisp. i think it would not last especially in ever changing season of Canada.

2. iphone5 - this item is consistent in my annual wishlist. I just hope this year someone out there would grant my wish. hahaha! #feelingera. well, there's nothing wrong in wishing. :)

3. perfume - i really love the scent of Issey Miyaki's L'eau D'issey Florale, i just have a hard time pronouncing the name of the perfume. wahaha!

4. old fashioned letters and cards (snail mail) - in the age of internet, YM, Skype, viber, bbm's very few people nowadays use cards and letters to communicate with their loved ones and friends. Its perfectly fine, in fact I often use those apps to talk to my friends. But once in a while, I really want to receive a letter, a simple postcard or note will do. Its a tangible manifestation on how friends find time to write, give advice and wisdom, offer encouragement, get in touch to update me about their lives. And I can always go back and read it again and again.

5. lomo camera - i want the spinner 360 so bad!

6. winter jackets - i might arrive during winter inorder to combat the cold. i need those jackets!

7. backpack - i'm a backpack type of girl. all my backpacks have given up on me. i need a new one for my travel soon. i like eastpak's getter coat backpack. i wish they had color blue. but this one is just fine.

I'll be leaving my comfort zone and venture to the unknown. Friends, please always include me in your prayers; prayers for safe travels, protection, guidance, blessings, strength. pray for me that I'll be able to find a job soon. I hope all my wish will come true! :) *wink* *wink*

a wedding and a funeral

October for the Hype clan is a festive busy month. Nanay, my aunt and 2 cousins plus me celebrate our birthday during this month. This year aside from birthdays, we celebrated my Ate's wedding and mourned for our Aunt's passing.

*wedding*

Early this year, everyone is excited when my cousin announced that she's getting married. You can feel everyone's excitement. This will be the 1st wedding in our generation. As I said relatives are flying from different places to witness the event. Last night, the highly anticipated affair came. It was a night of celebration, a celebration of friendship, life and love. You can really feel the overflowing happiness of the couple. Everyone enjoyed the night. Btw, its a double treat because its my cousin's birthday too!

* funeral*
Last week of September, we received a terrible news. My Aunt Jane passed away. The aunt whom I got my first name from, my dad's ate, the doll collector... had left us. Though we maybe world's apart she always kept in touch and never forgets to call or send cards on all occasions. We still can't believe her untimely death. But I guess, God has better plans for her. Maybe she has been through a lot and needed rest. Though we still cannot fathom everything, we trust in the Lord's plan and I know she's happier up there. She was laid to rest last October 5. We may not be there physically to bid her farewell... Aunt Jane, you know you are always in our thoughts and prayers. You are dearly missed. We love you.

A wedding and a funeral... what does it have in common? Some might say that the two are incomparable  because weddings are joyous celebration while funerals are for mourning. But for me, I see both as a beginning. Death is not an end, its a beginning of new life, a life with our Creator. Weddings are a start of a new life with the one you love.

Indeed, October is a memorable month for our clan.

Birthday Wishlist 2011

Almost halfway through October so to my fairy godmothers, generous godfathers and thoughtful friends here is my annual birthday wishlist. You'll never know I might have a ultra rich friend reading this post. *wishful thinking mode*

1. Lomo Camera

I really want this spinner 360

look at these cool photos you can take...

or this Lomo Fisheye

Lomo Fisheye

the fisheye effect

2. Rubber Shoes
I've been eyeing this since last year. I so love the color. :)

3. Spark your Dream

Its an inspiring story about a family traveling around the world in a vintage car;  how the dream began for the couple; how they embark on the journey of a lifetime.  They've been here and traveled the Philippines for a month or two, I think last December 2010.

Its not available in the Philippines and when I tried asking the local bookstores. The book costs around PHP2500 because they have to order it abroad plus tax plus shipping, etc., But when I checked on amazon it only cost around PHP750. Its way cheaper if I just purchase it online, the thing is I just have to wait for someone to go to US and bring it here in Philippines. Calling all my friends and relatives in the US, ito na lang pasalubong nyo. hehe! :)

4. iPhone

or Blackberry will do. I'm not choosy. hehe! :)

5. Funds! Funds! Funds!

I need a sponsor to fund my great escape. I'm in the process of gathering all the necessary docs for the big move. I hope all will go well. The world out there is waiting for me... I'm gonna be strong and free!

Thanks in advance! :) hehe!

hittin' three's

A few days back I've celebrated my birthday with family and friends. What more can I ask for? I'm  surrounded by loving people.

23.Oct.10  dinner with college friends

college barkada
24.Oct. 10 lunch with my family

ziplining! what a way to celebrate my 30th! another activity ticked from my bucket list! :)

It was a celebration of life; of 3 decades of challenges and triumphs, frustrations and achievements, tears and smile, heartaches, but mostly love.

30 years of my life had passed, through all the pains and joy, I grew, I became stronger and most importantly, I learned. Sometimes I get confused and don't know what to do but hey, no one's got it all figured out ; so I'll embrace it as it comes. And hopefully, pick up all the lessons life throws.

As they say, life's a journey so far I'm enjoying the ride of my life despite some setbacks. I love my life and the people in it! I'm so blessed. I thank God for all you.

Looking forward to another 3 decades of my life. Life is a journey so keep exploring! :)

P.S. My blog also turned 3 years old! A warm thank you to all who reads and visits my blog. Hoping to share more life stories with you all. Cheers! :)

2010 birthday getaway

Just got back from our 6-day Birthday getaway. This is Bambi's post birthday celebration, she turned 30 last September; It'll be my turn ( to be 30) on the 24th and Vina's 26th birthday on 20October; 3 destinations for 3 ladies celebrating life! Our first destination is Guimaras, then Concepcion, Iloilo and last stop Bacolod.

Travel thoughts:

As a sat at the back of the tricycle, I was saw Guimaras' scenic landscape. I never get to feel this on the city, the air is clean, no skyscrapers to block your view of clear skies; and no annoying traffic to ruin your schedule.

Concepcion roadside scenery offers a glimpse on everyday rural life.

And lastly, Bacolod has a very festive vibes because Masskara festival is just days away from the celebration.

We had lots of misadventures on this tour, but certainly had fun!

Reviews, adventures and guides on next blog post. Stay tuned!

wishful thinking

October is finally here! Oh how time flies fast! For my fairy godmother and friends,I'll spare you the hassle of wracking your brains for the things I would want to have on my birthday! Malay naten, mewon pala ko mga bigtime na fwends, ninong and ninangs, hello! wahaha!

1. laptop  - you can donate your old ones to me! I'm not choosy. hehe! :p

2. iPhone  or ipod touch (with camera!) kailangan specific! :D

3. backpack - my dear eastpak gave up on me. sadly, i have to let it rest.

4. running shoes - I wanna give running a try, and eventually I wanna join a marathon.

5. lomo camera -  I'm really fascinated with lomo. It has a 180 degrees fisheye lens! and It's not that expensive! I asked clang to find one for me when she was in the US. She wasn't able to find one.

6. canon d10 - I gave my canon ixus75 to my dad. and since SLR are too bulky to carry sometimes. I want a regular point and shoot cam. and this is perfect for me! it's water proof, dust proof and freeze proof! I like!

7. letters, cards and picture greetings! - I'm a sucker when it comes to receiving letters or cards. a letter expresses what that person thought of you or how they feel about you. no amount of hi tech gadget can compare to that.

8. prince charming!  to quote my former colleague, anra; "nobody should really take me seriously when I say I don't wanna fall in love, because everybody knows I would... Eventually.... "
