eheads fever

07 mar 2009, I witnessed a history. Eraserheads or Eheads, the country's rock icon held a concert on MOA's (Mall Of Asia) grounds to a crowd numbering to almost 100,000. The band reunited for a one night final concert after they disbanded last 2002. I was really really glad I was there last night. This is the band that I grew up with. Our dads/moms had elvis or beatles as their band...as for me, Eraserheads are the band of my generation. So, I'm not missing this one-time concert!

history as it happens

after work, i immediately took the bus going to Manila. Inside the bus, I was praying that I could make it on time. Concert starts at 8pm... time check: 7pm, I'm still stuck along EDSA. At 8:30, Bogart, who's at the concert already informed me that it has started. I'm almost there...845pm, I arrived at MOA. I run as fast as I can to reach the agreed meeting place(Bogart's holding my ticket!). Frantic, panting and panicking all at the same time as i anxiously wait for Bogart. then...it happened, my phone's battery went empty! there's no way i could get in touch with Bogart. Mimi, my companion tried and tried calling Bogart's mobile but to no avail. She sent tons of messages ( im exaggerating, of course. but there was a good number of msgs sent) to Bogart's phone but the response we get is...network busy! Great! that's really really great!

my view

At this point we where standing at the entrance, praying and hoping Bogart would popped up and give us our tickets. I could see the wide screen showing the bands performance and I could hear them rocking out. I was holding back my tears (i am frustrated) as i paced from 1 entrance to another straining my neck to search for Bogart. After what seemed like eternity, Bogart found us. now...i could smile. 4 songs and first set was finish. I could relax for awhile... to let myself catch my breath and absorb what was happening around. Finally, it sinked in...that i made it to the concert. i think i missed just a song or two from the opening set. But now, I was there relishing the songs, I grew up with. sigh....this is bliss....

gailie and the gurls

Then the crowd was estatic again. Ely, Marcus, Buddy and Raymund was back on the stage again. Set 2 began...i sang along together with the crowd...julie tearky, tikman, wishing wells, fine time (i like this song!), kailan, back2me, trip to jerusalem, spolarium (one of my favorite) and overdrive.

ely b

Before set 3 begins, Ely entused the audience to shout FrancisM's name and danced to SuperProxy as a tribute to FrancisM's untimely demise. Ely even sang the chorus of Kaleidoscope world and said, Mabuhay si Francis! They also sang Minsan, Alapaap and...

The final song was Ang Huling El Bimbo....

...na tinuruan mo ang puso ko na umibig nang tunay....

confetti was all over the place...and then...fireworks! i was kinda sad...tears welling up again...but i hold it back. As their final act, Ely lit the piano! There goes Eraserheads... The group took a bow and Ely said, 'Thank you! We are the Eraserheads'. ah... goodbye, Eheads!

the finale with a bang

At the back of my mind, I was wishing that somehow the band would realize that they make great music together...that they should continue playing as a band and forget all their differences after all they were all friends before. ahh...so much for my happy ending thoughts.

eheads rockin' it out

back to reality... a handful of people had left the conert grounds. I heard Raymund calling his bandmates to come up to the stage again. He urged the crowd to call out Marcus. Marcus! Marcus! the crowd chanted. The 4 huddled and discussed what songs are they going to sing. Ely said, '3 for the road'. And the crowd went wild.

We were able to inch our way further infront. Maybe as near as the Gold section. (as i said, many had already left). but we didn't go much further we're scared. we might get caught in between stampede just in case something went wrong.

eheads rule!!!

The last song was Toyang. Ely went down and let the crowd sing, as to which the crowd glady obliged. Poor Tim Yap...he had his moment. and he failed to sing the right lyrics...tsk...tsk..

Ely thanked Jazz, Marcus,Buddy and Raymund and for the last time said, We are the Eraserheads! I was screaming, screaming, and screaming my lungs out! (I thought I won't be able to report for work the following day coz I don't have any voice left). sigh....BLISS again...

one last great gig by the eheads

Good thing, I attended this concert. When the times comes, I could brag about this to my grandkids..that i was there, i was part of history! I think, i will have Eheads hangover for a week or maybe a month or as their song goes.... a century would be fine...fine, fine, FOREVER would be fine (for an Eheads hangover!)

oh gust, august!

back from hiatus, haven't been blogging for quite sometime. i was kinda busy planning for my next adventure trip.

here's what i have been doing for a couple of weeks...

1st week of August

  • watched Simple Plan's concert

save you (simple plan's newest single) and my favorite song!

shut up!

though it wasn't a success, i still enjoyed their performance. only a few people attended the said event, maybe because it was raining pretty hard at that time (i think there was a typhoon), or there weren't enough promotion or maybe because they just had a concert here a few years back and people didn't miss them that much. whatever the reason is... i'll still love 'em and will continue to watch their concert.

2nd week of August

  • on an impulse -the sweet escape to Kota Kinabalu and KL, pictures and adventures coming soon!
3rd week of August
  • back to reality... back to work... and also back to planning my temporary freedom. wehehe!
4th week of August
  • 26-28 August will attend a training (again!) in KL. and a side trip to HongKong! yehey! i learned that Nelly will also be having a training in HongKong on 25-29 August. i will meet him in HK on the 28th right after my training. its payback time! (devilish laugh). i was Nelly's tour guide when we were in KL, now its his turn to be my guide since HK is his 2nd home. we're also planning to meet up with some friends who's working in Macau. hopefully, everything will push through.

lifehouse live in manila

26 jul 2008

lifehouse live in manila

a concert to remember

the ticket states that the show will start on time but it actually started 845pm. at 8pm, there was a mini program hosted by radio DJ's. they had a question and answer portion, and the prices were great.

someone won autographed CD's, t-shirts and new mobile phone. also the first 11 persons who bought the tickets have a chance to meet and greet lifehouse in person. waaaaaaaaah!

lifehouse first song was make me over and the crowd went gaga. then followed by spin. there were songs that i didn't know but nevertheless the band was awesome!

some of the songs that they played that i knew were hanging by a moment, blind, whatever it takes, take me away, so far away from where you are, you and me, disarray and broken.

i was kinda disappointed when they didn't play everything, somewhere in between and sick cycle carousel. but i went crazy when they sang first time, my favorite song! i think they sang a total of 15 or 17 songs, i lost track.

jason wade got his camera and took photos and video of the crowd. he said his going to upload it on his myspace account. how cool is that?! he also said, they had an amazing week here in philippines and he loved the people. he even said that the crowd was amazing!

overall, the whole experience was fun. another concert please! wehehe!

i still have a 'lifehouse hangover'...sing with me...

we're both lookin for something

we've been afraid to find

its easier to be broken

its easier to hide.........

we're crashing into the unknown

we're lost in this

but it feels like home...

marooned

5 march 2008, maroon 5 live in manila. it wont be soon before long concert

2 years ago, i said to my friend that if ever maroon 5 would have a concert here. i would never pass a chance not to see them.

and now, here i am recalling everything that happened in the concert!

it was scheduled to start 8pm but there are a lot late comers from the patron VIP section so the show started 845pm.

as soon as Adam stepped on the stage everybody started screaming...including me! wehehe! he greeted everyone by saying, "magandang gabi sa." [translation: good evening to ] maybe he forgot the next line.. it should be, magandang gabi sa inyong lahat. [good evening to everyone/to all of you]

right away they sang... if i never see your face again the crowd went crazy. as the song ended, the stage went dark. [ nice light effects]

next song was, makes me wonder, the crowd sang with Adam and danced to his music.

im not a really good judge in music... i know little about it. but i can say that maroon 5 rocks!!! asteeg live performance nila! i was blown away!

third song was, harder to breathe. galing nun drums!!! [love ko na ung drummer!!!] after the third song, Adam talked to the crowd. "hello, philippines!" ,then waves at the crowd. [awww...]

he said that he learned two things, he learned 'hello', then he said " magandang gabi sa inyong lahat. my pronuanciation is kinda new so gimme a break here. i also learned, isa (1), dalawa (2), tatlo (3) , apat (4) but i got scared but i gonna try it again. isa, dalawa, tatlo, apat. [he repeated it] isa, dalawa, tatlo, apat. " [together with the drums beating] then he encouraged the crowd to count with him. isa, dalawa, tatlo, apat, then he sang the sun. ang galing, super kewl! during the song he picked up his guitar and jammed with the lead guitarist!!! galing galing, pwamis!!!

after 3 to 4 songs, they finally sang, this love and the crowd sang with him. after the song, the whole band left the stage. the crowd including me, jeered and cheered for them to come back.

2 minutes had passed, they went back to the stage... Adam saw a girl holding a card that says, maroon5 mahal kita!. adam said that it's nice to feel loved... they have been touring for quite some time, and they have been far away from home...but here they felt that they were really at home, and they feel welcomed and this is ONE OF THE BEST CONCERTS THEY HAD BEEN IN!

and then he sang, she will be loved...half way through the song the whole band paused... Adam looked at the audience and smiled. he looked really pleased with his Filipino audience, he just smiled and looked at the crowd for almost a minute or two. i can see from his face that he was overwhelmed by the audience reception towards to his band. [awww... cute nya tignan, lalo na pag nag smile! gwapo nya talaga! love ko na talaga cia! shyet, hati na puso ko sa kanila nun drummer!] then the drums started beating again and continued the song.

i forgot the last song they sang... as they finish they whole band went infront and all took a bow to the amazing crowd.

kinda bitin! we want more! i want mooooore!!! asteeg! ang galing talaga, bitin nga lang! i'll watch again if ever they'll be back! keep rockin' maroon 5!!!

eto lang masasabi ko.... to borrow maroon 5's lyrics...

cause you keep me coming back for more
and I feel a little better than I did before
if i never see your face again, i don't mind
cause we got much further than i thought we'd get tonight

eto pa...
it's not over tonight
just give me one more chance to make it right
i may not make it through the night

i won't go home without you

i wont go home without you talaga, adam!!!

VERTICAL HORIZON
LIVE IN MANILA

Why in the world I didn't hear about this?!

Bambi emailed me last night asking for the date of Vertical Horizon's upcoming concert. I couldn't believe they're here! I found out the concert will be tomorrow. Nobody told me about this! (well, except for Bambi). I haven't heard any announcement on the radio or seen any billboards regarding the concert. Its too late, if I have found out days ago, I could have arranged my schedule. I would really watch this one.

(sigh) waaaahhhh... I missed it! Too bad!
